After A Very Long Walk I Discovered This Place: Shoen-Kannon Bochi.

Little Buddha statues made of wood. I discovered them after a long walk to a nearby museum – that was one of my best moments so far in Japan. Entlang der Tempelseitenwände reihte sich eine Buddhafigur nach der anderen. Neben dem Tempel befindet sich auf dem Areal auch ein Friedhof.

何時ですか？ (Aussprache: Nan ji desu ka?)

„Wie spät ist es?“ It’s a clock of the Japanese brand Seiko! The company was founded back in 1881. Amongst others they manufacture and sell watches and clocks. Es handelt sich übrigens um einen cleveren Firmennamen, das Wort kann mit ‚Erfolg‘ in Deutsche übersetzt werden.

„Once you have seen one temple, you have seen them all“ – I Totally Disagree With That Statement.

I just returned from another temple and discovered new details I haven’t seen before:

…the focus on an artist (Uncho Ishikawa) who was responsible for the incredible wooden carvings of the temple…

…a big building structure that protects the old temple! The temple officially opened in 1534.

An Outstanding Sculptor And Painter: Uncho Ishikawa (1814-1883).

Beautiful monument at Seifukuji temple. It portraits the artist in action. He was a master craftsman during the Edo period (1603-1868).

Get six-pack abs like him! ;)

It’s one of the muscular guardians in front of a Buddhist temple. My friends Yuka and Hiro invited me to join them by car to Seifukuji temple (Uonuma). It’s definitely a place to be.
