Nakasuji-site in the city of Shibukawa (Gunma Prefecture)

Zu sehen sind die rekonstruierten Häuser einer Siedlung, die hier vor 1500 Jahren während der sog. Kofun-Zeit bestand. Sie wurde beim Ausbruch von dem Schichtvulkan Mount Haruna zerstört, der sich in unmittelbarer Nähe befindet. An keinem anderen Ort habe ich bisher mehr Libellen erlebt als hier. In the middle of a housing estate: winter and summer huts of a village that existed 1500 years ago – destroyed by volcano mount Haruna. This is the place with the highest amount of dragonflies I have been at so far.
Mitten in einer Wohnsiedlung – ein Freilichtmuseum. Im rechten Bildbereich ist eine Sommerbehausung zu erkennen, das ’neue‘ Gebäude links ist ein Taubenschlag.
Zu sehen ist hier eine Winterbehausung. Vor Ort gibt es kein Museumspersonal. Man kann das Gelände frei betreten. Auf Nachfrage erhält man ein Faltblatt zur Anlage in der Touristeninformation am Bahnhof der Stadt Shibukawa.

A Keyhole-Shaped Tomb: Mori Shogunzuka Kofun (Nagano Prefecture).

The late 4th century AD burial is located on a hill. You have a stunning view from this spot. Go and see Nagano and spend a half day at this site and it’s nearby museums.
Reproduced haniwa on the top of the burial mound. Haniwa are ceramic funerary sculptures on mounded tomb surfaces during the Kofun period. 
I would like to officially declare my love for haniwas. 🙂 Ich muss mich outen: ich liebe Haniwas. Die Vielfalt dieser unglasierten Grabfiguren Japans ist faszinierend.

From far distance. Auch aus weiterer Entfernung ist die Steinaufschüttung von dem Grab aus der Kofun-Zeit gut erkennbar.

Hanabi Fun at the Sea!

Incredible fireworks! The people in Japan truely know how to make a good show. The Kashiwazaki fireworks over the sea went on for 2 hours. 2 hours? Really? You need alot of sponsors to make it! 😉
